The Year 9 Cooking Skills class and Year 12 Chef Skills classes had an afternoon visit to a local business on Wednesday afternoon. The business they went to see was Falcon Foodservice Equipment. They are the UK’s leading manufacturer of professional cooking equipment; supplying operators and chefs across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
With a company history going back nearly 200 years, they supply all market sectors. Their client base includes chain restaurants, breweries, hotels, hospitals, schools, prisons, the armed forces and marine installations.
Our students were given a tour of the showroom where they got to try out demonstration models of industrial cooking equipment. They were then taken to the development kitchen where the Product Development Chef Shaune Hall gave them a demonstration of the latest innovations in cooking equipment. They were also treated to some lovely cupcakes and complimentary stationery. It was a very worthwhile trip and the students were able to appreciate the size and scale of machinery required for cooking commercially.
