For Anti–bullying Week 2017 (13th – 17th November) pupils at Millden Centre have been doing tasks to raise awareness of bullying and how to deal with it. The primary students have been learning about how to be a good friend, types of bullying and how to recognise bullying. Pupils in secondary have been carrying out acts of kindness and studying poems linked to the theme of anti-bullying. At the assembly that week we were shown a video of how to react when being bullied. We also found out some facts about bullying. Did you know that…
- 50% of young people have been bullied within the past year
- 19% of these were bullied EVERY DAY
- 44% of young people who have been bullied experience depression
- 69% of young people admit to cyber bulling
We also found out the types of bullying. These are:
- physical bulling,
- verbal bullying,
- social bullying
- and cyber bullying.
Here is a tip: if you witness or experience bullying you must always report to someone and never try and solve it on your own. If you feel you are being bullied you can go to ditchthelabel.org and chat to one of the members or read articles about how to overcome bullying.
