Millden pupils and staff recently took part in the first ever Millden Crime Scene Investigation. Students worked in House teams to try to solve the case of the missing birthday cake. The day started with a briefing on the crime and a short video introducing forensic investigation. Teams then had to question the suspects (the teachers!) and use scientific techniques such as fingerprinting to find the location of the crime, the culprit and the utensil they used. The students worked very well in their teams and although some came close, no team was able to correctly identify the guilty individual – Miss Davidson.
Science classes have used this activity as a starting point for their forensic science unit. They are now looking at the science behind forensic procedures and are creating an interesting wall display on their findings. If you are visiting the school come and have a look at it in the science corridor. Thank you to Mr Burford for organising the event and to all staff for helping to make it happen. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
